A public commitment by D2D YouthStory Media Pvt. Ltd. to ethical journalism, accuracy, and accountability.
The d2d News Editorial Code defines the journalistic standards we hold ourselves to, drawing from the Press Council of India’s Norms of Journalistic Conduct, the News Broadcasting Standards Authority guidelines, and global best practices.
1. Accuracy & Verification
- Every fact published is verified from at least two independent sources where possible.
- Quotations are reproduced faithfully; paraphrasing is clearly marked.
- We do not knowingly publish false, misleading, or unverified information.
- When uncertain, we say so — “details are still emerging”, not invented certainty.
2. Corrections & Clarifications
If we publish an inaccuracy, we correct it promptly and transparently:
- Material errors are corrected within 24 hours of being verified;
- The correction notice remains visible on the affected article;
- Significant corrections are noted on a dedicated Corrections page;
- To report a correction, write to info@d2dnews.com with subject “Correction Request”.
3. Fairness & Right of Reply
- Persons or organisations criticised in our reporting are given an opportunity to respond before publication.
- If a response is not received in time, the article notes this fact and we publish the response promptly when received.
4. Sources & Attribution
- Anonymous sources are used only when essential to the story and when the source faces credible risk.
- Anonymous claims are independently corroborated wherever possible.
- We never invent or composite sources.
5. Conflicts of Interest
- Journalists must disclose any financial, personal, or political interest that could compromise objectivity.
- Reporters do not accept gifts, paid travel, or favours from subjects of coverage.
- Outside writing, speaking engagements, or consultancies are disclosed to the Editor-in-Chief.
6. Privacy & Dignity
- Private individuals are afforded greater privacy protection than public figures acting in their public capacity.
- We do not identify minors involved in crime, abuse, or family disputes.
- Victims of sexual violence are never identified, even with consent, unless required by law and verified with the subject.
- Bereaved families are approached with sensitivity; intrusion is avoided.
7. Sponsored & Branded Content
- Any content paid for by an external party is clearly labelled as “Sponsored”, “Partner Content”, or “Advertisement”.
- Sponsored content does not appear in regular editorial sections without distinct labelling.
- Our editorial team does not write sponsored content involving subjects they cover.
8. Editorial Independence
- Editorial decisions are made by editors, not by advertisers, sponsors, owners, or political affiliations.
- Revenue partners have no preview rights or veto power over editorial content.
- Coverage of advertisers is conducted with the same scrutiny as non-advertisers.
9. User-Generated Content & Comments
- We welcome reader comments but reserve the right to moderate or remove content that is defamatory, abusive, off-topic, or in violation of these Terms.
- Editorial standards apply to op-eds and guest contributions; we may refuse to publish any submission.
10. Reporting Violations
If you believe an article violates this Editorial Code, please write to the Editor-in-Chief at info@d2dnews.com with subject “Editorial Code Complaint”. We will acknowledge within 48 hours and respond within 15 working days.
